Transform Learning About History to Doing Something About History

What will you investigate?
Investigation Index

Investigation overview

Everyday that goes by, history is made- by you!.

What does this mean?  Well, history is just what we choose to remember about the past.  What did you eat for breakfast this morning? What did you do yesterday after school?  When you remember these events, and think about all the memories you have inside your mind, you are looking back into the past and choosing to remember some of the events that took place.  There surely is a lot to remember.   That is why our community works together to help remember the past- through stories told before we go to bed, movies we watch, and books we read.  However, many things can be forgotten.  We are always making a choice.  We decide what we should remember and the rest ends up forgotten.

But what if something from the past was forgotten, and now the community believes it should be remembered?  What if you think it should be remembered?  Well, starting today, you go on a historical journey to uncover the past, the history, of our neighborhood of Hunts Point.

You will begin your research as a historian.  You will uncover the past in Hunts Point.  You will investigate different documents that were created at different times in the past.  You will decide what should be remembered.  As you investigate, you just may uncover something that has only been remembered by a few people.  You just might make history.

Are you ready?  Do you accept the honor bestowed on you by your community leaders?  Click the button below to begin!
